Last week was National growing for wellbeing week.
Gardening and nurturing plants is proven to be very therapeutic and can have a profound impact on our wellbeing. Embracing the joy of nature and gardening can bring a great sense of achievement and satisfaction. My mum has tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and peppers growing in her greenhouse. Watching them grow, looking after them and when the time is right for eating them, gives immense pleasure.
You don’t need a big garden to gain the same benefits. A window sill or balcony will provide the same pleasures.
There are many gardens that will be open under the National Garden Scheme. They are a great way of visiting gardens, admiring plants and flowers. Advice may be given and shared and many charities benefit too. A win win!
Gardening helps us connect with the outside world, breathe in fresh air and it can be an excellent physical work out!
So get busy and enjoy!
