Being present in the here and now means that we are mindful of what is happening at this very moment. We are not distracted by the past or the worries of the future.
It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to really pay attention to the present moment. Distractions such as TV, mobile phones and social media are some of the worst distractions for removing us from the here and now. I often spend time on my phone and laptop and then suddenly I realise hours have flown by!
Being present minded is important to help us stay happy and healthy. It is easy to take things for granted. Being more present helps to ground us to appreciate the simple things in life, such as being thankful for water coming out of the taps or thankful that your car has started. We can get caught up in our thoughts without stopping to notice how those thoughts are effecting our emotions.
Being present improves our wellbeing-
