Today I would like to talk to you about fitting mindful moments into your everyday life. I often feel that trying to have the time to put well being into our lives takes a back seat; everything else has to come first. All the cleaning, shopping, looking after your parents, children and work become the priority! Oprah Winfrey looks at this matter in her book “What I know for sure “
She compares that on a plane we are told to put on our own oxygen masks before our children’s. This principal should apply to our self care. Putting yourself first allows you to give much more to everyone else.
When I was younger, I would moan to my mum about cleaning the bath, and she would advise me to enjoy every moment, the applying of the cleaner, rubbing it around, rinsing and then looking at it gleaming at the end.The total focus on “a singular ” task and being mindful about it, not thinking about anything else- gives us the ability to be in the present moment here and now. Not worrying about the past or the future. This is really helpful to live a slower, more mindful life. This week I invite you to try this with whatever life throws at you. The school run, shopping etc, just slow down, notice, breathe and enjoy your moments.
